Different ways to search
SuperSearch searches first by library- CSU-Pueblo is the default location, with options for Everything and Course Reserves. Find materials at CSU-Ft. Collins using the drop down menu on the search box. "Everything" includes open access materials.
The Advanced search option provides searching by keyword, title, author/creator, subject, and call number, as well as specialty numbers such as the Library of Congress call number and ISBN (International Standard Book Number).
Find journals two ways: Journal titles will come up in SuperSearch within general search results. However, if you know the title of a journal you need to use (perhaps your professor recommends it, or you are given a list of specific journals), use the Journals A-Z link.
Advanced search also lets you quickly limit your results to Material type, such as books, audiovisual items, articles, and journals.
Additional tips: These tips work in across all databases
- Keyword searches are the broadest search, as they search all information in an item record. (The search tips in Precision Searching, are based on using keywords.)
- Subjects are a very specific set of terms that are helpful for precision searches. Often, the easiest way to find subject terms is to do a keyword search first and then look at the subject terms for those that are good matches for your topic. There is more about subject heading searching in Specialized Databases later in this section.
- The Advanced Search screen allows a few additional search capabilities, such as multiple search fields to narrow the scope of a search term. You can also limit by year range, language, location, or format.
