1974 presents the NWPC, still struggling to raise national funds for its existence, with a national presence in a number of states. The grow the central US women's movement, the organization has a mid term conference, Win With Women in Wichita, Kansas. Pauline Martinez and Rhea Mojica Hammer attend.


The Texas and California Chicanas make a decision to abandon the NWPC focusing on state work. In Texas there is the RUP, PASO and MABPWA. In California, Comision Feminil, MAPA and a host of northern and southern California political groups. Rhea, as vice-chairperson of the NWPC recognizes the national platform the NWPC offers the Chicana Caucus and begins a strategy to reach out to Chicana/Latina women across the country.

The Midwest Council of La Raza at Notre Dame, as a political and educational clearinghouse for the Raza Unida and its third party movement, creates relationships with Latinos across eleven states, disseminating information on policy and action. Latinas in Milwaukee and Madison Wisconsin, Toledo, Ohio, Kansas City, Missouri, and Davenport Iowa, benefit from the informational efforts of Olga Villa and Jane Gonzales in keeping Chicanas plugged into this Midwest network.
