Changing Landscapes: From "The ASU Story" to Modern A-State

ASU Indian Family Performers

As figures like "Chief Illiniwek" became popular, ASU would follow the trend by creating its own version of a "chief" for its spirit squad. The Indian Booster Club developed the idea of Chief Big Track and the Indian Family in 1959, and provided the first costumes for the students who would perform at football games and excite the crowd with drumming, dances, and the Chief’s signature ride around the stadium after touchdowns.
