Mauro Neri, an Afro-Brazilian graffiti artist hailing from the Grajaú district on the south side periphery of São Paulo, gained recognition through his innovative mural endeavor, Veracidade. This project, a clever wordplay combining "Ver a cidade" (see the city) with "veracidade" (truthfulness), entailed placing murals not only on conventional walls but also throughout various locations across the city. Grajaú, known for nurturing numerous skilled graffiti artists, serves as Neri's hometown and a hub for urban artistic expression.
Mauro Neri aka Veracity is a true master of urban art. From the outskirts of São Paulo to the Bahia, he's much more than a graffiti artist, he's an educator, artist and activist. Co-founder of inspiring projects such as Imargem, Cartograffiti and Infograffiti, Veracidade uses his color palette to paint the voices of the communities, echoing the strength of the Bahia that runs through his veins, as he is the son of Baianos. His works not only decorate walls, but also tell stories of people, claiming the right to the city and celebrating the environment.
