Of the Gods

The Ruse

The Boss musters up words....barely.

"I...I can't take this anymore. I'm getting too old for this shit. Here." He hands the crackled phone to you. "I don't want your trickery anymore. Look what you started that now I have to clean up. Just take it and leave."

"Sorry to be a bother," you respond. "We'll be....on our way then."

You click your tongue at Loki like one coaxing a stubborn horse to move, and motion for him to follow.

As you walk into the elevator, you spin around to face Zeus.

"Oh, and by the way....I'm glad you deemed me worthy of this promotion. I'll look forward to working with all of you again in the future."

"What?"

"The rules of the game stated that whoever was deemed the fairest would be rewarded with the prize...and the promotion," Loki adds.

You dangle the phone up to his face, the gold side facing him. "You've just handed this golden Apple...to me." The Apple logo shimmers in his face, the etching underneath reading 'to the fairest'.

"I'm genuinely surprised how after all these centuries, the same tricks still work on you fools." You laugh, and look back up to him, yellow eyes piercing his soul.

".....I run this place now."

You smirk as the elevator closes, Zeus staring blankly as you make your exit, the brawl behind him still underway.
