Dinner with the Devil
"So," he starts as he sips from his glass. "how's your week been, dear?"
You sigh. "Meh, I've had better. The team is hella stressed about this shifting of powers, and I'm beat, babe."
"Ah, yes, I bet. Tell me more."
"I don't know, I just....I feel like Chaos is a big joke...just a catch-all for anyone that didn't fit in anywhere else. My girls are my family there, but I miss it down below. Up there, being run by some man that hasn't got a clue what Chaos is even supposed to do. I love what I do, but I wish we had a woman in charge."
"And we miss you too, Lili...but they moved you for a reason. You deserve better than simply shuttling lost souls down the conveyor belt like we do. You're a force to be reckoned with. If anyone can do something about it, it's you."
"Believe me, I know," you say with a laugh.
"That's the demon I fell in love with," he says as he takes your hand and lands a kiss on it.
"Oh you devil, you."
"But..if there anything I can do to help, you know I'm just a department away. Through hell and high water, I'll be there for you if you wish."
A lightbulb goes off in your head.
"Say that again," you say.
Satan looks confused. "I'll be there for you if you wish?"
"No, no, not that. The other thing."
"Through hell and high water?"
"Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh....Listen, honey....you wouldn't still have that access key to the menagerie would you?"
"Yeah, anyone in our department has access to pretty much everything. Perks of dealing with the dead, I suppose. What you thinking?" he asks, with a sinister smile.
"Oh, I've got an idea on how to move up....though it might require getting a little.....wet."
"I like where you're going with this, my Queen..."
