Of the Gods

Bed Head

You wake up the next morning on the floor of your office. Loki lies beside you, a blanket draped over the both of you.

You get up, compose yourself, and reassemble your wardrobe onto your body with the motion of your hand.

You turn to wake him with a kiss.

"I'm trying to sleep," he grumbles.

"Sorry," you say with a playfully sarcastic tone. "I figured you didn't want to do so on the floor, my good sir."

You shrug off his morning grouchiness, and get ready for your day, stepping over him into the office. All of your coworkers from Chaos have been moved to these nicer quarters by your request.

Stepping out into the office, chaos is afoot.

"Ladies! How's our work today? Good news or bad?"

Your three best friends turn from their desks.

Kali starts, "We've got a forest fire spreading across California, likely to wipe out the last remaining redwoods in the region. Collateral damage, I suppose. There's not enough water to put them out."

"Nice!" you exclaim.

"I've been working on an airborne pathogen..." Kumi chimes in. "....spread through contact with dogs....they'll never know what hit them."

"Promising.." you surmise.

"K, lucky for you, I've saved the best for last. Working on a resurgence of SIDS...Still working out the kinks though."

"Ok....maybe lay off the baby shit a tad, k Lilith? We still need to make sure we don't kill ALL the humans, just trying to fix their overpopulation problem."

"ugh fine" Lilith turns around, sulks in her chair, and starts typing.

"Nice work team. Good to see we've been keeping up!"

Lilith receives a call from her communication device.

"Hey Luci...Yeah I'm gonna be home late tonight....oh I know bb, I'll try to finish up quick here....Oh you devil you....ok sounds good, love you to hell and back baby." she makes a saccharine sweet smoochy noise in the receiver and the call ends.

"Oh Eris, can we take off early tonight? The hubby and I got a date and I wanna make sure I look absolutely ghastly. Pretty please???" she pleads to you.

You're skeptical at first, but she persists. You look back to the office where Loki is stepping out, and you turn back to Lilith with a smile.

"I'll cut you you a deal." you decide. "We're almost down to our ideal human population, only a few thousand more casualties and we should be able to set things straight. If you can come up for something positively apocalyptic we can schedule for next week, you can go early. Everybody can go early, we've had a good week."
