"Novelist, Formerly at Oregon State, Writes Searing Satire of Academic Life"
by Malcolm Bauer, Portland, OR
November 12, 1961
"Eleven years ago, Seymour Levin, after teaching English in New York City high schools. came to "a new life" as an English instructor at Cascadia College...There can be no doubt that Cascadia College physically at least, is Oregon State University, where Malamud gained his only college teaching experience before moving recently to Bennington, VT. The setting is the on the bend of a river between the Coast and Cascade ranges; Cascadia's woe is that it has "lost" its liberal arts majors to the University, with which it is forever feuding."
