Gilley and Levin

Arguably, Gilley and Levin engage in the most significant struggle for power and information throughout the novel. This remained fairly consistent between editions, but Levin's character development and ability or willingness to express his opinions around Gilley increases in the published version. The following  selections narrow in on significant exchanges and highlight the increasing hostility between the two as Gilley senses he is losing power and Levin realizes he may have more power than he initially realized. We tried to provide a good span of the novel with the four selections, although an example from the beginning is absent and the interaction begin as the relationship begins to sour and are subsequently biased.
