"Yankee Clipper" and Italian American - Joe DiMaggio
Of the three brothers that made it to the majors, Joe was the only one to write a first person account of anything. His autobiography, Lucky to Be a Yankee, was written while Joe was still playing ball in 1946. Therefore, it is not a complete autobiography, but it is the closest literary piece to it. It is also worth mentioning that the book was sanitized in the style that was prevalent for sports players in the time it was written. This means that in the book Joe remembered events incorrectly or was being purposefully vague. Lucky to Be a Yankee was also written as Joe returned from war as the most famous athlete in America.
