Its recent adaptation is the accommodation of the Senate of Canada while the Centre Block of the Parliament Buildings is under rehabilitation. Located across from the Château Laurier and beside the Rideau Canal, this building is hard to miss as a part of Canada's Parliamentary Precinct.
Transitioning from a public building, to a private building, and now a public building with private areas, the Senate of Canada uses this space not only to continue its operations, but also to continue to involve the people in the growth of Canada. The new home of the Senate is vastly different in its architectural forms, aesthetics, and progression through the main public spaces. Thus, in comparison to the previous home of the Senate, the current Senate of Canada Building is an adaptable space that is a better site for the Senate because of its mesh of heritage and modern components.
