Introduction

Red brick ravaged by the harsh Ottawa weather envelopes the exterior of the Mayfair Theatre. It's simple facade decorated only with movie posters and a name sign contrasts with the more vibrant storefronts of its neighbours along 1074 Bank street. Its dim-lit sign and modest entrance does little to draw the eye in unlike the large celebrated exterior envelopes of its more modern counterparts such as the Cineplex Cinema at Lansdowne. Despite these characteristics, it is a hub for film lovers and has managed to stay afloat for all the years it has been open. The interior of the Mayfair theatre enhances the viewing experience of its audience today and provides them with a unique experience that rivals that of modern cinema complexes.
