The photo shows Marge Simpson dressed as Rosie the Riveter, and is from the January-February 2011 UTNE Magazine. The cover story is titled “We Can Do It! Getting America Back to Work.” This image uses inspiration from Rosie the Riveter to show a strong, American figure and to motivate social and economic change.  It is interesting, because Marge Simpson is also symbolic of a mother, and wife. Thus, the image also shows how housewives can be powerful, instigating social and economic changes.
