Miss Representation Rosie the Riveter

This is the cover of the film Miss Representation, which shows Rosie the Riveter reaching out through a flat-screen TV clenching an iPhone and staring out through a computer screen. In the background is broken glass. The bottom right corner states: “Official Selection 2011 Sundance Film Festival.”  The image is meant to empower women to break through societal norms, break through the glass ceiling, and gain power.

According to MissRepresentation.org, the film is meant to uncover "how mainstream media contribute to the under-representation of women in positions of power and influence in America. The film challenges the media’s limited and often disparaging portrayals of women and girls, which make it difficult for women to achieve leadership positions and for the average woman to feel powerful herself."
