The Questions
The questions that I believe this art piece formulates and
addresses fall into three categories.
Space
The interacting 3D stereoscopic image allows the viewer to
play with space in two different ways. He is first presented with a 3D forest full of
life that doesn’t stop moving and evolving. At this point he can feel like if
he is almost inside that world. The spotlight is then turned on and suddenly he
is actually inside the virtual world.
Something that must be mentioned about Into the Forest is the
way in which the bodies of the children and the viewer are represented. This is
something I would describe as moving shadows with no details at all but only
the outline of a body. This metonymic representation gives us an interesting
concept of what the body is.
Children playing and daydreaming in a natural setting that is also moving evokes a special and probably personal feeling in the viewer. It confronts him and takes him back to a time no longer accessible in an interactive way.
