Forest
Into the Forest is based on another of their art pieces called
Forest that was exhibited for the first time in 2007. In Forest five screens
present different views of the same forest scene which are in “dynamic
disequilibrium with each other”. The scene displays, like with Into the Forest,
children playing outdoor games such as hide and seek or climbing trees. The different views are continuously changing
with no pattern with respect to each other but are still showing the same
scene, thus creating strikingly filmic and “uncannily live expression of
subjective space”. For example, one might change the colour of the forest and
another might change to another camera angle. The objective of this piece is to
recreate childhood play and represent its magic by presenting it in this
subjective alive space.
