The phrase

There was also a sentence on the bottom of the cover art. This detail is also derived from a Magritte painting, it is an image of a pipe with a sentence that reads “Ceci n’est pas une pipe” (which translates to “This is not a pipe”).

Magritte states about his own painting: “And yet, could you stuff my pipe? No, it's just a representation, is it not? So if I had written on my picture "This is a pipe," I'd have been lying!” ² This work of art pointed out Magritte’s idea that “no matter how closely we may come to depicting an object accurately, we never do capture the item itself” ³.  This is re-interpreted onto Pink Floyd’s cover art of the box set as “Ceci n’est pas une braîte” which translates to “This is not a box”.
