The end
The irony behind this re-interpretation is that there was no painting of a box like Magritte’s painting of the pipe. The phrase refers to the box as an object that displays the image. It means that this immersion box set includes only the best of Pink Floyd’s music, it does not include everything that is Pink Floyd. Therefore, it is only a representation of Pink Floyd.
It is clear that Pink Floyd were influenced greatly by Magritte’s paintings and ideas and tried to create their own image through personal re-interpretation. The illustration on the box set represents Pink Floyd’s music, it is their self-portrait. I think it presents a statement that resonates with Pink Floyd’s audience which is that we may accept something as reality, even if we know it to be an illusion.
