Shulamit Gallery: Goal of the Institution

When opening her gallery, Shulamit had many goals in mind. Firstly, she noticed a lack of exposure and knowledge of contemporary art, along with a lack of support for the artists. She believed that by opening up a gallery , she would have the chance to inform and engage the community in getting a better understanding of what contemporary art truly is. She hoped to engage the Los Angeles community through exhibitions, created by both beginning-career and mid-career artists. Shulamit understands that art is a great medium for communication, as it is a non-combative, international language. Artists are able to portray themes and images as a form of communication through their art, rather than verbally. Additionally, she is “devoted to building bridges between our regional and global community.” Shulamit Gallery uses art as a device to create and maintain a more wide-ranging and hospitable future.
