Looking Beyond has taken its board members on a journey that they could never have predicted at the organization’s beginnings. As it expanded and became increasingly successful, Looking Beyond’s efforts grew and this was translated into the formation of an additional organization, Looking Beyond Next Generation. The Next Generation group was founded in 2012 and includes a select group of young professionals who are committed to bettering the lives of children with special needs. While they share the same goals and concerns as their parent group, they have directed their efforts towards a younger crowd. The first inaugural event was held on September 18th, 2014 at Unici Casa. Their honoree, Nick Ekbatani, survived a motorcycle crash when a taxi driver made an illegal turn. Although Nick lost his left leg and doctors believed he would not survive, Nick proved them wrong. He survived twelve surgeries and continued to strive towards recovery. An inspiration to all, Nick was honored at Looking Beyond Next Generation’s first event.
