frequented places by both Hong Kong natives and visitors.

How popular is Cha Chaan Teng? Typing in "Cha Chaan Teng" in Google map, the red dots are distributed all over Hong Kong. Searching for " Cha Chaan Teng" at openrice.com, there are over 4000 results, compared to around 200 for McDonald's. But quantity is not the only index for its recognition in Hong Kong.In 2004, it was top on the list of “Ten Designs that Best Represents Hong Kong, beating the equally well-known trolly and star ferry.In addition, Hong Kong people are enthusiastic about getting Cha Chaan Teng on United Nations' list of “Intangible Cultural Heritage”.

Born in Hong Kong half a century ago, Cha Chaan Teng develops its influence is beyond the territory of Hong Kong.We can see its presence in mainland China and  Chinatowns overseas.
