2020: Testing the Test

Student and teacher boycotts of standardized tests spread across the nation. In New York City, only 15% of students and teachers are continuing to participate in the regents.

2012: Teachers at Seattle's Garfield High refuse to give the district mandated Measures of Academic Progress test.

Discussion Questions:
  • What is the responsibility of teachers to be active in educational politics? What about students?
  • Who creates tests?
  • Why do you think there has been an increase in tests?
  • How do tests affect your work as a teacher? As a student?
