Who am I?
I am an artist.
I am a poet.
I am an actor.
I am a writer.
I am a freedom fighter.
I am a brown girl in a white girl’s body.
I am a liberation artist.
I am a capoeirista.
I am a woman.
I am a healer.
I am a dancer.
I am a lover.
I am a sister.
I am a daughter.
I am an auntie.
I am a student.
I am a teacher.
It is important to know the author, the hand that leads you through the maze. In knowing where I come from, where I have been and where I am going, I hope to illuminate some biases that I may or may not have going into this project.
As a person who has used art as a tool for personal liberation, I am putting myself on out there as an example of how art has been a tool for meditation, healing and freedom.
