Kansas City Barbecue

Second Draft Research Prospectus

Question: How did barbecue effect the culture change in African American lives in the Midwest?

As I was doing research, I found that an African Americans played a roll in finding barbecue in Kansas City. Henry Perry was the most popular founders of barbecue in Kansas City by barbecuing ribs in an outdoor pit. Perry was the first to establish the founding style of barbecue ribs. A few years later, Arthur and Charlie Bryant were contributors to barbecue. All three of these men were African Americans, who left their imprint on the history of barbecue in the Midwest.

Thesis: The history of barbecue changed the culture lifestyle in the African Americans because creating a new style of food allowed African Americans to create job opportunities businesses in the food industry.
