Literacy Narrative
Reading and writing are important parts of the people’s life. They make people’s life more colorful than before. People can get knowledge and feel happy from the reading. Reading can enrich yourself. Writing can help you to express yourself feeling and the reader can understand you. I think writing is a good way to express your idea. You can write everything you want to say. Everyone have their own story about Literacy Narrative. Everyone could get the benefit from the reading and writing. For example,though reading and writing, it enhance my memory because you need to remember many detail in the article.Also, writing can improve your imagination. Reading and writing can help you in many ways.
When I first time meet Chinese reading is in the junior class. The class homework is read one article.So I choose one article from the school story magazine. They have many article inside and very good to read. I was young and misunderstand many words. I use dictionaries to find out the meaning and make myself can read the whole article. But when I finished the reading, I know every word meaning , I discover I can’t find out what’s the main idea and what the author want to say. I read the article again and again. Then I try to understand each paragraph. After I understand each paragraph, I make them together and find out the main idea. I still remember that article. The article is about the author’s childhood. Even though he had a not so great childhood with bad marriage of his parents, he is still optimistic of the future life. As a young man, he dreamed about the future, with arguing sound of his parents still lingering around him, he strives to be better in life, and brighter in the future. I enjoyed this because the author teaching me never give up, the ending would be delightful. And this article make me keep work hard on the reading even though reading is hard.
My first time Chinese writing is wrote the reader response. Reader response is like when you read the article, you write the feedback. Even though I understand the reading, I can’t wrote what I want to say. My brain is fill up my opinion, my hand just can’t write it down. I can’t find the word to describe my opinion. I used long time to solve this problem. I though my article can get a good grade. But life is cruelty. Teacher said my article have many wrong grammar and he can’t understand my main idea. He told me to do more practice about grammar. I felt down but I didn’t give up. I wrote it again and again. The Kung Fu fighter Bruce Lee said that he was not afraid to meet an opponent who has practiced 10000 times different leg action, but is afraid to encounter a strong enemy who will only particle 10000 times the same leg action. My opinion is the 10000 times same leg action can win against the 10000 times different leg action. So if I can focus on one thing, writing. And practiced again and again. Then I can have success.
This big changed happen in 2013. I was immigrant to the United States. Everything is new to me. When I go to school, people are saying English and I don’t understand what are they talking about. I felt down and resist to go to school because I don’t know English. But you still have to meet the hard truth. When I reading, is a lot of word I don’t understand. I have to use translate to understand. It’s boring and you have to do it again and again. I meet the reading problem like I was younger reading problem. And now the problem is more difficult. The article is longer and more difficult to understand. I understand the article need at least 3 hours. It make me feel upset. The writing is the hardest part. New grammar make me confuse. It’s different with Chinese article. At that time I want to give up but Bruce Lee’s speech make me insist to solve this problem. I asked teacher and classmate for help and they are friendly and nice. They built up my confidence. Even though my writing still bad now, I will always work hard on this. I believed it can help to improve my life. When I reading or writing, I always can feel my heart and brain are enrich. The spiritual world got improve. And into college, everything is challenge and harder. But it can help me learn a lot of knowledge of all aspects. I think this is the value of learning.
My experiences in my daily reading and writing held a tremendous impact on my skills as a writer and a reader. If without the experiences, I can’t write and read anything now. The value of reading and writing is immeasurable. Out of all my experiences is my life I believe this make me increase the level of literacy.
