Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Watch the Youtube video posted to this page. While watching pay careful attention, you may want to take notes on the sequence of events, important moments in the clip, or anything that you feel is not just important, but absolutely necessary to the telling of the story in the movie clip.
After watching, it's time to take the screen and put it onto paper. Re-write the series of events seen in the scene from Malcolm X as if you were there with him in the background. (This is where your notes will come in handy) Use as much detailed description as your memory and notes allow you, try to include as much of the video as you can in this 15 minute writing exercise.
