Meet the Authors
Eta Pastreich and Emily Mendelson are both seniors in the Binghamton University Scholars Program in the Class of 2020.
Eta double-majored in History and Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology, and she minored in Middle East and North Africa studies. Eta's experience while participating in various archeological excavations inspired her interest in exhibit curation, and she hopes that this exhibition is the first of many future curations in a potential museum career. She would like to thank Tom McDonough, an Associate Professor in the Art History department, for his integral advice in the crafting of this exhibit. She would also like to thank Emily for putting up with her for the past four years.
Emily majored in Business Analytics and minored in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Next fall, she will be attending Baylor University to begin obtaining her Master's in Communications with a concentration in Interpersonal and Organizational Studies. Her involvement in this exhibition is largely influenced by her research in the Binghamton Human Sexualities Lab, where she specialized in sexual consent as it pertains to college hookups. She would like extend a gracious thank-you to Katherine Bouman, Associate Director of the Binghamton University Scholars Program, for advising her and Eta through the curation of this exhibition, as well as recommending them to be involved in the museum. Of course, she would also like to thank Eta for not only being her partner in this art museum journey with her, but for four wonderful years as roommates.
Emily and Eta would like to thank to Claire Kovacs and Diane Butler for all of their tireless efforts and guidances through the curatorial process. Additionally, they would like to thank Hilary Becker for her extreme assistance with moving the exhibition to SCALAR, so that others are able to experience the exhibition regardless of geographic location.
