Shot Breakdown Assignment

The “Shot Breakdown” asks students to focus on one scene and to name formal elements such as the framing, sound, lighting, camera movement, and set design using title cards or in a voiceover. They then use these concrete observations to make simple arguments about how the ingredients work together to give that scene its tone and meaning.
