The Manuscript

15th century Illuminated Medieval Manuscript on vellum, likely produced in Tournai around 1450. This richly decorated manuscript includes ten full-page miniatures framed by decorative borders, seven pages framed by borders in gold and colors and hundreds of smaller initials in gold and glittering colors. An additional interesting detail is the original manuscript binding: In French blind-tooled leather over wooden boards, gilt and gauffered edges, signed I.A. Gontier or Goutier on back cover. This further confirms that the manuscript was produced and illustrated in Tournai. For further details on this manuscript, please see Dr. Gregory Clark's lecture.
