I agree that the twist is excellent and our narrator seemingly turns from mother to villain quite quickly, but I’m curious about the connection to Easter. Perhaps the narrator can be posed as a sort of Mary figure? Perhaps the Narrator sacrifices the health and wellbeing of her son in a moment for the greater good and maybe that is the source of her forgiveness? I’m not sure! It’s definitely a story with many different angles, I think.
