Thanks for your patience during our recent outage at scalar.usc.edu. While Scalar content is loading normally now, saving is still slow, and Scalar's 'additional metadata' features have been disabled, which may interfere with features like timelines and maps that depend on metadata. This also means that saving a page or media item will remove its additional metadata. If this occurs, you can use the 'All versions' link at the bottom of the page to restore the earlier version. We are continuing to troubleshoot, and will provide further updates as needed. Note that this only affects Scalar projects at scalar.usc.edu, and not those hosted elsewhere.

Even though there are still issues to be addressed, Unity is by far one of the greatest solutions to the problem of equality and accessibility in the video game community. It is still too soon to determine the full length of its influence, but even at this early stage, we can see a significant change in terms of what type of games are available and who is making them.
By turning game-development into an easier and free process, Unity is building a pathway that will allow more people into the industry, and through them, a more creative and bolder definition of what games can be.
