BEYOND GAMES
Unity has been doing much more than simply providing game-making tools. The engine's many tutorials and resources offer users a chance to learn through hands-on experience and without having to pay for it. In that sense, we might even go as far as saying that Unity aligns itself with the values of hacktivism, promoting knowledge accessibility in large-scale.
The engine's software is also open-source, allowing people to fork and modify it as much as they want to.
For those interested in getting serious about games as a career, there are plenty of formal learning options with Unity and even certification in order to increase the individual's professional value. Parallel to that, Unity offers a grant of USD 17,000 for graduate students with game-projects that they believe will help them start a career in the video game industry.
If that wasn’t enough, Unity has also been engaged in social causes that push for a more connected, free and tolerant world. One example of this was their sponsoring of visas for people that had their flight privileges restricted due to their nationalities.
