UL Lafayette Trophies

Introduction

This digital exhibit reflects a temporary exhibit, located in the first floor Dupré Library stairwell at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, which showcases a selection of awards given to UL Lafayette students, from the 1940s through the 1980s, for their performance in a variety of judged competitions, including debates, public speaking, poetry readings, dramatic interpretations, athletics, drills, rallies, homecoming events, and ROTC activities. A few plaques and trophies that were too tall or large for the physical exhibition space are presented here in this digital exhibit. These trophies are part of the University Archives (Coll 1) in the Special Collections department, Library 3rd Floor (https://library.louisiana.edu/collections), and document the extracurricular activities of students and faculty. They also represent certain design styles that evolved in popular culture through the decades from the middle to latter part of the 20th century.

The trophies in this exhibit are arranged chronologically. The objects were photographed with a Canon EOS 77D digital camera.
