About the Author

Allegra Tepper is an award-winning arts and entertainment journalist based in Los Angeles, whose work has appeared in Variety, The Los Angeles Times, Mashable and USA Today. A University of Southern California Presidential Scholar, she graduated magna cum laude from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in May 2014, earning a B.A. in Critical Studies.

In April 2014, Allegra presented "Lizzie in Real Life: Social and Narrative Immersion Through Transmedia in The Lizzie Bennet Diaries" at the Society for Cinema & Media Studies Undergraduate Conference at the University of Oklahoma. That piece will be published in the Fall 2014 issue of Spectator, the USC School of Cinematic Arts' internationally distinguished journal of film and television criticism.

Throughout her four years in the Media Arts + Practice Division's Honors in Multimedia Scholarship program, Allegra has focused much of her work on remix, creating found footage digital arguments on a wide range of topics, including cinematic representations of sexual difference; the role of music in ghettoized communities from the 1930s through present day; and the spatial patterns of domestic violence and HIV prevalence in Africa and South America.

Her research interests include network identity and branding, remix culture,
feminist theory, and participatory culture in television.
