Sara Kenney


Sara Kenney set up Wowbagger Productions in 2011 to tell stories through TV, films, comics and immersive experiences. For 25 years Sara has worked in science engagement in science orgs (e.g. Environment Agency/ Wellcome Trust) and as a filmmaker on documentaries, drama and animation (BBC, Channel 4, Discovery). Sara is an Honorary member of staff at Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine & guest lecturer at Cambridge University (CRASSH); Imperial College (Surgical Education) & Manchester University (History/Science Communication). 

Her 2016-2017 comic series Surgeon X was set against the backdrop of an antibiotic apocalypse in near-future London where Rosa Scott, a brilliant and obsessive surgeon, becomes Surgeon X, a vigilante doctor who uses experimental surgery and black market drugs to treat patients. Surgeon X risks everything to save lives, but ultimately ends up warping her medical oath to suit her own decisions.
 
Sara was a Wellcome Trust Engagement Fellow from 2017 to 2019, exploring how storytelling (comics & broadcast) can have positive impact on health. Theory of Change, Evaluation & Collective Working methodologies.

Her new game She Could Fly: Documentary Escape Game exploring OCD and anxiety, is out now on STEAM.
