A co-founder of York’s Future Cinema Lab and former Fulbright and Canada Research Chair, Caitlin is an award-winning digital storyteller, with recent research projects including Artificial Intelligence Storytelling and an Indigenous-led New Frontiers in Research Fund project investigating Immersive Digital Environments and Indigenous Knowledges. Since 2015, the Immersive Storytelling Lab has worked with members of the Global Strategy Lab on large-scale, interdisciplinary global projects that bring together artists, scientists, health practitioners and policy makers to tackle 21st century challenges. Immune Nations, a multi-year project funded through the Research Council of Norway, mounted international research-based exhibitions exploring the role that art can play in difficult and divisive social and political topics such as global vaccination. Speculative Energy Futures, another multi-year project and part of the University of Alberta’s Canada First grant, used arts-based practices to bring together engineers, policy makers and artists to imagine and share alternative futures for energy transition, resulting in exhibitions, workshops and a fluxus-inspired kit for distribution.
