team exterior #8

The community and eco-sustainability are very important to this mosque, so it was imperative that we included outdoor gathering spaces.  We are going to include many areas for members to visit and talk, as well as room and equipment for children to play on.  One example is that we will create a natural garden our of native species in California that require very little water and do not need additional care.  This will greatly reduce the environmental impact of the mosque and leave a beautiful community space.  We will use a rock pathway made of stones found in California that will also let rain and nutrients into the soil.  We will also have a parking lot available next to the building with two handicapped spots which are directly next to a ramp into a set of doors, as well as a spot for electric cars to recharge their batteries, run off of the solar panels.  There will also be a small fountain present, which will use water recycled from the ablution station.  The entire mosque, parking lot and outdoor space will be surrounded by a short, non-intrusive fence to keep the place looking good, but to maintain the sense of community.
