Introduction
Welcome to The Petriverse of Pierre Jardin, an extended experiment in collaborating with stones through rock collecting, contemplative gardening, scholarly research, and poetic writing. The project adduces an Outsider Philosophy of the 'geologic now' by combining intellectual whimsy with poetic rigor. It intermixes discourses including ecotheory and new materialisms, Gaston Bachelard and Roger Caillois, Chinese lithophilia, concrete poetry, and geology, and evokes a poetics of deep time in critical dialogue with Big History and Anthropocene discourses.
This born-digital instantiation of the project is presented as a rock garden of forking paths. Navigation of this flat terrain entails bifurcation and feeds on free-association. Meander through this labyrinth secure in knowing that you are always on a right path, and there is no final destination.
