Jessica Hibbard is a photojournalist, freelance photographer, and world traveler.

She has a passion for using photography to tell stories of the unique people she meets in her journeys. Jessica studied Photojournalism and World Religions at Gardner-Webb University in North Carolina. She has interned with the International Mission Board and Upcycle Life, as well as been an integral staff member of the student publication GWU-Today.

You can look at numerous statistics about the hurting and broken world and just see numbers on a page, but if you take the time to hear just one person's story, you will quickly see that each person has a story all their own. Jessica's love for storytelling began in high school. Initially, she was just looking for a major that would be fun but has turned into her life's passion. That transition has come out of a process of meeting an abundance of people and taking the time to hear their story. She has learned to see each subject not just as part of the "big world issues", but as people fighting for a hopeful tomorrow.

For her latest project, Jessica has spent the last 11 months building relationships and gaining confidentiality with the refugee community around center-city Charlotte, NC. She has captured intimate stories with a handful of refugee women through her time as an intern and intentional relationships with the employees of the Charlotte-based non profit organization, Upcycle Life.
