Composite Stechzeug - Who Made It?

Zachary Barney, Class of 2025, College of the Holy Cross

Jousting Armor was made by armorers and blacksmiths that would be charged to create armor for the noble that asked for it. Due to their size, they would have been more expensive than normal combat armor, making them rare and difficult to mass produce. Any set of jousting armor would have been the prize of any noble's armor collection and they would take great care to ensure that their jousting armor was in good condition. When plate armor is made, the joints and shoulders are made in a scale pattern of different plates in order to keep the joints flexible. The plates would fold into each other whenever they contracted and spread out when they were expanded.
