Now in its 17th year, Student Showcase has continued to highlight student excellence. Student Showcase allows us to celebrate the amazing students at Mat-Su College, allowing our students to inspire their peers to reach similar levels of academic success and, in general, helping to inspire the Mat-Su College community. Showcase is also a highly competitive event that allows students to participate in a scholarly conference, culminating in a journal where award-earning work is published. We thank our wonderful students for their hard work, diligence, and commitment to academic success!

This year’s Showcase is especially important since we have widened the entries to include clubs—an integral part of the Mat-Su College community—in our competitive selections. The journal begins with a scientific paper on Newtonian theory and rocketry, then moves on to a personal narrative on the impact of softball on a student’s life. It next moves to a policy paper on the controversial topic of physical gender-affirming care and wraps up with a look at Student Government’s partnership with Mat-Su Foodbank to help address food insecurity at Mat-Su College.

An Important Note: I have placed available presentation slides in the Appendix section so readers can see the fantastic work our students did on their slides.
