Many Dances and festivals were held in order to promote social interaction outside of ethnicity barriers.   Most dances were held along with a carnival.  Rockefeller wanted to create an image of a thriving community.  He made sure that social events were held in order to promote high spirits, create positive outlook towards the Steelworks community and to boost the public the image that had been labelled on the community.
