Trial of the Sixteen

This trial looked at the
assassination of Kirov and plots to kill Stalin. Grigory Zinoviev and Lev Kamenev were the prominent defendants.
Zinoviev and Kamenev made a deal with Stalin
that if they confessed he would spare their lives including their families however,
Stalin went back on his word and had them killed. Through torture, the rest
defendants confessed and were all executed in secrecy.
