Love Songs

What is more romantic than writing or singing a song to woo or praise your main squeeze? Love songs dominate the landscape of popular music, whether they be the jams filling the airwaves of top-40 radio, the heartbroken strains of a guitar-strumming bard, or the upbeat hits thumping across night club dance floors. Many students created podcasts talking through the messages of love songs on themes as varied as being love-drunk, suffering from lost love, or regaining confidence after a break-up.

Emerson Herrera, "I Will Survive"—this disco track by the legendary Gloria Gaynor is about learning how to love yourself
Yuting Su, "Lonely"—a tragic song about someone needing to feel loved
Santos Flores, "His Daughter"—a song about having hope even when everything seems bleak, this is an unconditional-love song
Charval Maxwell, "Crazy in Love"—this hip-hop and R&B-inspired love song is about a love that you just can't get out of your mind
Jordyn Pigott, "Boo'd Up"—Ella Mai's 2018 hit is so ambiguous that it could be about any kind of love, real or imagined
Yoshiko Lynch and Euna Yang, "God is a Woman"—another self-love song, drawing on the force of self-confidence to create a new worldview
