Simpsons and Freudian Dream Theory

S6Ep17 Analysis

Homer falls asleep trying to think of an invention that will make his family rich, and this daily residue makes up the context of the dream.  His desire to make an invention and subsequently make lots of money is fulfilled in this dream.  However, the invention itself is completely obscured, and thus Homer experiences anxiety over his competing desire to not do any work.  This is repressed, but manifests itself in the fact that Homer can't discover what the invention is.
