Simpsons and Freudian Dream Theory

S25Ep6 summary

Lisa dreams that she has entered the Democratic Party Pantheon, a great hall filled with banners that read "14 Points", "New Deal", and other such things Lisa exclaims are "such lofty ideals."  The ghosts appear of Michael Dukakis, Walter Mondale, and John Kerry.  She realizes that they are all losers, and Mondale tells her that she is headed for a loss in her school election.  Lisa protests, citing Obama, Truman, and Bill Clinton as Democratic winners.  Bill Clinton appears and tells her she's a lot like him because she "plays the saxophone, comes from a small town," and was "raised by a mother with no help."  Lisa asks if he knows how she can win, and he tells her he doesn't even know why they are all ghosts, because they are all alive and doing a good job in important government roles.  Clinton tells her that he's only there to tell her about the work that the Clinton Foundation does, and Lisa falls asleep.  Clinton says "Hey, you can't fall asleep in a dream!" and Lisa wakes up.

Homer is tossing and turning in his sleep, and dreams that he is in the same Pantheon among the same men, and Bill Clinton is telling him about CGI America, and Homer yells, "You used to be fun!"  Clinton replies, "Kevin Cosner used to be a movie star.  Get over it."
