INTRO
Cowell Beach faces a pollution epidemic and its close proximity to the Beach Boardwalk does not help the issue. Everyday hundreds of people litter on the shores of Cowell Beach, and actions need to be taken to stop this tragedy. For the last four years Cowell Beach has been ranked number 1 on the beach bummer list, and over 90 percent of the water samples done at Cowell beach exceeded at least one state bacterial standard.

My name is Sergey Gasparyan and I am a Computer Engineering major at the University of California Santa Cruz. I have been visiting the Beach Boardwalk ever since I was a child and have seen it change over the years. The Boardwalk holds a important place in my heart and that is why I want to figure out how to stop its pollution epidemic.
