'Root Shock': New Digital Technologies and Urban Displacement
This working group explores the intersection of new digital technologies and urban displacement. We will investigate the ways immersive technologies can help tell stories or deliver research-driven content about displacement. We are especially interested in ways to represent the lived experiences of displaced individuals and the long-term consequences of community dispossession. The group, jointly hosted by the Levan Institute for the Humanities and the Ahmanson Lab, aims to bridge gaps in the current urban humanities literature by expanding the tools used to tell the story.
