Types of Comedic Performances Created During the COVID-19 Pandemic

The comedy created during the COVID-19 pandemic can be broken down into three broad categories: stand-up comedy and sketch comedy, telephone plays and interactive performances, and more traditionally filmed comedic performances. Each of these categories displayed different methods of coping with the trauma resulting from the pandemic.

One of the main divisions in comedy during the COVID-19 pandemic was the difference in the methods used to approach the topic of the pandemic. These methods can, once again, be broken down into two main categories: comedians that chose to use their comedy to try and cope with the horrors of the pandemic, and the comedians that chose to use their comedy to try and uplift their audiences and provide a distraction from the pandemic.
