ARGUMENT

In the Merriam Webster On Line Dictionary there are several definitions associated with the term "Argument." The two most relevant to English Composition would be: “a coherent series of reasons, statements, or facts intended to support or establish as point of view,” and “a form of rhetorical expression intended to convince or persuade.”

Something to consider: To convince or persuade may not be that difficult if "everyone" is interested in the topic, but what if that is not the case? How do you get someone who does not care about the issue that you do? This is where the true work of argument begins.
